Mbira, marimba & the sound of Zimbabwe

Specialist tuition in traditional African instruments โ€” the technique, the repertoire and the culture that gives the music its meaning.

Overview

African Instruments

African instruments are at the heart of what we do. We teach the mbira dzavadzimu and marimba alongside hosho and ngoma, building the interlocking parts and polyrhythms that make this music so powerful.

Lessons cover traditional songs and their place in Zimbabwean life, as well as how to bring these instruments into contemporary music, worship and school ensembles.
